I pity the company that hires you

Would Walt Disney ever have named the dog Pluto if he had known that it wasn't really a planet?
That's just one of the questions that have arised ever since Pluto was downgraded to status of dwarf planet in 2006.

For 76 years, Pluto thought that it was a planet similar to Earth, Mars, Uranus and the other five planets but a ruling by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) downgraded it to a mere dwarf planet status.

What does this mean? Well, in a nutshell, Pluto no longer receives the same benefits and perks that other ligitimate planets receive. Some quaters have not taken well to this new ruling calling it an outrage and discrimination towards Pluto.

That was back in 2006, now it's 2009 and nothing much seems to have changed even after the massive protests and online pettitions. The only good thing to come out of this affair is the term 'plutoed' as in you've just got plutoed! It is a term used when downgrading someone to a lower level/status.

Managers have been heard using this term frequently due to the current economical crisis when demoting and even firing employees. It is even rumoured that Donold Trump would change his iconic 'You're fired' catchphrase to 'You've been plutoed' to keep up with the times and keep his reality show more current with the younger generation.
If only he would keep his hairstyle more current (low blow, I know, just couldn't resist).

Speaking of the Donald, who in their right frame of mind would want to get a job? As in the Terminator Salvation movie poster...'The End Begins'. Working is just the beginning of the end. The end of having a life. No more late nights, no more getiing up in the afernoon, no more football no more everything. It's just wake up early and go to work for the rest of your misreable life untill finally you keel over and die.

Having said that, the end begins on Monday for me. Like a wise freind of mine said. "Your lucky to get a job, the job's not lucky to get you".

Reason? You don't really need one...

It's funny how politics can turn the most civil minded and down to earth people into complete hypocrites. I'm not going to go into any details because this blog is dedicated to writing about complete and utter crap, and politics is not that. It's beneath that. But sadly, we can't escape politics, it's here to stay.

In a completely irrelevant turn...........

Ever noticed how when you sometimes speak of a movie, there's this one image/scene that keeps on popping into your mind. When you talk about Braveheart, the first thing you think about is a blue faced Mel Gibson screaming about freedom to wear a man skirt, or King Kong on top of the Empire State building swatting annoying airplanes. Who could forget the romantic images of "Look Jack, I can fly" of Titanic (or in my case, the "I want you to draw me with this, only this" scene). Mostly, the images that come to your mind, more or less deals with the spirit or theme of the whole film. But there are some images that are completely irrelevant to the film but for some weird reason, become the main focal point of the film.

Here's one said example..........

Transformers.... the blockbuster event of 2007 ( I didn't like it that much personally). The first thing that should pop in your mind when thinking about the Transformers movie should be robots or at least cars that turn into robots. But, oddly that's not the case. From the survey I've done (yes, I have that much time on my hands) 90% of people stated that the first image that pops into their minds is...

The Megan Fox car scene.

It's true... don't fool yourself by denying it. Doesn't really need any explaining now does it? It's the same for both men and women.

In light of the next robot in disguise film. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, I would like to post the next image that would burn and stay locked in your minds till the next Transformers movie.

Or maybe just till the next Megan Fox flick.......

The Megan Fox motorcyle scene. (personally, I like this one better)

If you haven't noticed yet, I just needed a reason to post pictures of Megan Fox.

Armageddon... Don't believe the hype.

Armageddon is overrated. Don't believe the hype. The world isn't going to self destruct and blow up. Has history taught us nothing?

The first living things to walk the earth were the lizards aka Dinosaurs. What happened to them? Well, they went extinct. How? Popular suggestion is that a meteor struck the earth creating a thick cloud of dust that blocked the sun causing a sudden drop in global tempretures, followed by a protracted cool period which killed of most of the dinosaurs. I say most if you believe in the Loch Ness.

And from the ashes, who would rise to inherent the earth? that's right, the mammals. Human beings. The ancestors of primates. The decendents of Adam. You choose which one you believe. If we take into account what happened to the dinosaurs, it's safe to say that the earth is in no danger of exploding, just that one of these days the humans will all die. That's a given anyways. The logical reasoning is that the human race will be snuffed out just like the dinosaurs, then who will rise from the ashes then?

Looking back, the lizards and mammals have had their chance to monopolize the earth, so it is safe to say that after the human armegeddon, it would be the rise of the insects. Super intelligent insects, way smarter than humans and lightyears more intelligent than the dinosaurs (that's not really saying much).

After the insects then what? maybe it would be birds. Then maybe plants would take their rightfull place on earth. Then finally, after every species have had their turn then it might be safe to say that the earth will finally explode in a blaze of glory and that would lead to the end. Period.

Unless you count the rise of the Martians on Mars. But, that's another story for another time.

The Missing link

In the spirit of Tom Hanks new movie Angels & Demons, and the whole Religion VS Science debate, I would like to share my own theory on the existence of man.

Religions point of view.
Popular religions believe that God first created a man (Adam) and then a woman (Eve) as his companion and lived happily in Heaven. But after giving in to temptation of the Devil, Adam and Eve were banished to Earth to liveout their entire existence until the end of days. So thats the beginning of the human race from religions perspective.

Science point of view.

Evolution. I wont go into detail, cause most of you guys know it already. The whole natural selection. Primates evolving in millions of years to what we now know as man.

My theory

For years religious people and scientist have been at odds with each other, each with their own facts and proof on their view. So here I go trying to say "Why can't we all just get along"..... introducing my very own theory that combines the two views.

In Heaven, God created Adam and Eve. Living happily in Heaven untill they gave in to temptation.

Back on Earth, primates were slowly evolving into what we call as humans today. But the difference is, they were still very much like animals without free will or thought.

God banishes Adam and Eve to Earth but without any physical body. Their souls were embedded into these primates and thus changing them from animal to humans with free will and thought. Religion explains the missing link. How animals evolved into human.

So their you go, keep in mind its just a theory. there are loads of facts and arguments against it but hey.... thats why it's a theory. Theories were made to be proven.

So, instead of Religion Vs Science, why not both working together to find the secrets of life.

Seasons of Penelope and Me

Penelope Cruz by MNG.
I used to drive by this billboard each time driving back home. It was the best part of the drive. Don't know why, but I really like the picture. And not for the obvious reasons. There are many more better/sexier looking pictures of her. A quick search on the net, and you'll know what I mean. The reason I like it, it's unexplainable. I just do. There's something about the slightly parted lips and the wind blown hair that caught my attention. The fact that it's black n white gives it a more vintage look. Classy, while pleasing to the eyes. The ad was most probably to promote the autumn line (I think, but what do I know about womens fashion, or then, fashion in general).

It's been about 6 months since the picture got replaced. Replaced by another MNG ad, still with Penelope Cruz. This time in glorious colour. Like I said, I don't know fashion much, but I think it's for the winter line. I was a little dissapointed when I first found out the ad had changed. Eventhough it's in colour, I still prefer the black n white one. It seemed to have more artistic value. While the first ad was like looking at a famous picture in a muzium, the new one just felt like any other ad you would find in magazines and newspapers. Dissapointed much? Yeah, you said it.

Due to certain events, it's been some time since I last drove by the MNG ad. But when I finally did, guess who was there? Summer Penelope. Winter Penelope had been replace with an ad showing more skin (that's what gave it away). All I can say is it's easy on the eye, like watching the E News, nice and fun but without the substance.

Will just have to see what MNG and Penelope comes up with next. Let see if they can come up with something as worthy as autumn Penelope and not dissapointments like winter and summer.

Lower expectations for a good time

It's been a long time since I've been to the movies. But then all of a sudden, three movies in three days. Star Trek, Wolverine and Angels & Demons. You just gotta love the summer blockbusters.

Since I've seen these movies, and I do have a lot of time, the logical thing to do is to give a quick review of the films. So here goes....

STAR TREK

I've never been a Trekkie but I do know the basic story line and the characters. I wasn't really looking forward to see the films but after seeing some rave reviews, I had a change of heart.
The verdict..... I didn't like it. It was okey, the CGI were excellent and the characters true to the series. The only problem is, like Transformers and Indiana Jones, there were a lot of inapropriate jokes. I may be the only one thinking this, but it really did ruin the movie for me. Don't know what i mean? Think back to the monkey vein swinging scene in Indiana Jones and you'll understand.

Wolverine

Being a fan of Marvel since forever, I was very dissapointed at seeing all the negative reviews. So my expectations were greatly lowered when I finally did see the movie. I'm not ashamed of admitting that I somewhat enjoyed it. It wasn't great or exceptational but as an action movie, it was watchable. The only problem I had with it were the unecessary characters (Blob, Will.i.am, Ryan Reynolds) and the lack of the animal berserker Wolverine. Wolverine seemed a bit tame for my liking.

Angles & Demons.

Another film I was dreading to see, since they butchered The Da Vinci Code (I'm not even gonna talk about the hair).
With no expectations whats so ever, I found this movie to be leaps and bounds better than the first.
The major problem with this film which really ruined it for me was the divergence from the novel. The whole Religion VS Science angle took a back seat in the film eventhough that whole angle was the foundation of the book. The changes in story line and the omition and addition of characters really pissed me off. But still, the hair was an improvement.

So there you go, a word to the wise.... after this, always watch movies without any expectations and you might enjoy it. Still haven't found the ultimate summer blockbuster but I'm enjoying the road getting there. Next up: Terminator Salvation....

2. Club World Cup
3. Carling Cup
4. Premier League
5. UEFA Champions League........?

Now a word to our rivals.....

Man Citeh - Money can't buy you success. Looking forward to seeing some more big names snubbing you guys in the summer.

Arsenal - You guys have potential, but come on.... spend some money Wenger.

Chelsea - You guys have lost your edge. No longer a title rival and no longer the big spenders.

Liverpool - Still in the title race after Christmas... admirable, but ultimately losers are still losers. Rafa's mind games pale in comparison to the Master.

GLORY GLORY MAN UNITED! GLORY GLORY MAN UNITED! AND THE REDS GO MARCHING ON ON ON!

Breakups and Heartbreaks

Its always sad when a long relationship has to end. Seven years is not a short time, and for it to end is always tough for both sides.

Eventhough it's ending, i'll have to admit that we had good times, great times. Those past seven years were the best years of my life. You taught me so much, i belive we both taught each other something valuable.

The fact that you effected my life would be a huge understatement. My life changed forever when I first met you. We have been inseparetable since, which makes this unexpected breakup even more heartbreaking.

You have been more thana friend to me, you stuck with me through thick and thin. Who could forget that encounter in the lonely parking lot, or even at the highway on that freakishly rainy day. We went places together you and me, you were always there to keep me company. You were always reliable, I could always count on you.

I can go on and on about our time together but it wont hide the fact that it is coming to a painful end. I hope that whoever you end up with treats you with the respect and love you deserve.
I know you've heard this from me before, but I really mean it when i say that I love you, and I always will.

So, here's to the great times we had. I'll miss you JGK 5659. Serve your new owners well as you did me. It was truly an honour meeting you.

It's always a sad affair when you have to sell off your very first car.

People are idiots

So, how are we gonna start this blog thingy.....? might as well start rambling shit.

The interview that never was...

Due to subprime morgages, jobs have been hard to come by. And thus job interviews have become the bane of my existance.

To cut the story short.... it didn't go well. Why do you want to become an auditor? you would think that after six and a half years I would have the answer already. Guess not.

So instead of blogging (haha... bloggin) about the real interview, here's the version that should have been...

Nanook: Hello, nice to meet you.

Mr Interview: Let's cut to the crap and get this over with.

Nanook: Sure, your the boss. Give it your best shot.

Mr Interview: So, tell me your motto in life. Every succesful person should live by a motto that he holds dear in his heart.

Nanook: (after a brief pause) my motto in life is ... "People are idiots"

Mr Interview: People are wat? Can you please explain?

Nanook: Well if you need to ask, that should be explaination in itself.

Mr Interview: You smart ass little punk, you got it. This company could use smart asses like you. Report back on Monday.

Nanook: Thank you sir.

And thus my journey to becoming a multi millionaire started.

The end.

History in the making

My first ever blog..........

What can i say?

It took to much effort.............................
